The house was awarded first place in the Eco House Competition launched by The Research Council of Oman. Over one month the building was able to generate an impressive 1 MWh excess of electricity, through it superior insulated building envelope, energy efficient appliances, and its photovoltaic array. As such the building produces more energy than it consumes, making it a Regenerative, Net-Zero Energy Building.

Build Process

Day 0 - Substructure and ground slab finised and ready for NUDURA walls

Day 2 - two courses of NUDURA block up

Day 6 - Nearly reached first floor height. Window and door sections visible.

Day 8 - Built up to first floor level

Day 10 - Pouring concrete into ground floor walls. Concrete for all the ground floor wall poured in a couple of hours.

Day 13 - After letting the concrete dry for 3 days, the hollowcore slabs are laid on top

Day 15 - two courses up on the first floor

Day 18 - Still going up

Day 22 - First floor walls complete after only 9 days

Day 22 - The concrete is poured into the first floow walls

Day 27 = Roof parapets and penthouse completed.

Day 32 - Structure of villa completed in 32 days, with a superior performance building envelope that will help turn this into the net zero carbon building it will become.
